Our hand woven rugs are made using 100% hand spun wool and natural vegetable based dyes. It is fairly common for hand woven rugs to show minor irregularities. Traditionally made on portable looms, often dismantled for transport and re-assembled at the new camp, the completed nomadic rugs (like Kilims, Burgestas etc.) would not always turn out perfectly proportional. The preferred use of vegetable dyes also brings some color variation as dyes vary from batch to batch. Some rugs like Chobis display a unique pile abrashing where the same colors will display variating shades depending on how the wool was dyed and this may be accentuated as the rug fades. However it is these minor 'imperfections' that differentiate handwoven rugs from machine made or hand 'tufted' rugs sold at big brand stores.

How to care for your rug

Your Oriental rug will last you a long time if cared for properly and precaution is taken to avoid damage from some of the regular culprits:

• Avoid prolonged direct exposure to sunlight which will fade your rug. Organic dyes are generally resistant to sunlight but ultraviolet rays can cause fading over an extended time. If it is exposed to direct sunlight based on room location, it is best to occasionally rotate the rug to minimize exposure to any one section. Curtains, blinds and shades help reduce any extended exposure. However do not be overly concerned about sunlight; these rugs are able to withstand normal exposure without any noticeable effects. 
• Exposure to water can cause damage if not dried out immediately. This often happens when potted plants are placed on the rug and leaks cause the rug to go damp. Check regularly to make sure the rug stays dry if a flower pot is placed on it and watered. In case of dampness, blot wet area with a cloth or paper napkins.
• Keep an eye on pets from chewing or scratching the rug. Young puppies tend to chew on rug edges and cats often tend to scratch the wool pile to sharpen their claws.
• Watch out for moths. Rugs in regular use have a minimal chance of becoming infested. Moths prefer undisturbed, dark places. Therefore, be careful of any parts of a rug that are under furniture such as sections that may be under a couch or bed. Occasionally move the furniture and vacuum these areas. Also, if you are storing a rug for any period of time, it is recommended to wrap it in plastic (several places including the Home Depot carry rug storage bags) and use plenty of moth balls - provided the moth balls do not touch the actual weave, the strong smell stays for a long time. Cedar wood balls can also be used as an alternative.
• Rugs should be vacuumed regularly which does not harm the rug if done gently. Try not to use power vacuums or at high suction settings. Vacuuming occasionally removes dirt from the rug which often settles down in the fibers of the rug and causes extended wear. You may also broom your rug every now and then. We would not recommend beating your rug as this may break some of the fibers.
• Finally rotate your rug occasionally to keep wear patterns from forming in areas that may be getting uneven usage. Also, rotating a rug reduces sunlight exposure to areas facing a window continuously.

We ship using UPS or FedEx Ground services and for multiple purchases to the same shipping address, combined shipping will be further discounted. The listed shipping rates are for within the Continental United States (for HI, AK and Canada, please inquire).

For International orders please be aware that shipping, any customs duties or VAT are the responsibility of the buyer. If you would prefer a different shipping method, kindly let us know and we will try our best to accommodate your request. For speedy delivery such as next day service, additional shipping charges will apply.

Purchases will be shipped immediately upon payment confirmation. You will receive a purchase confirmation email followed by shipping/ tracking information with an estimated date of delivery, once your order ships. Please contact us for any shipping and order inquiries.

Your satisfaction is very important to us. To better assist our customers in making a more informed purchase, we try to provide detailed information with multiple images for each rug. Even after receiving your new rug/s, if you are not completely satisfied with your selection, simply return your rug/s within 7 days of delivery for an exchange or full refund. You will be credited with a refund of full purchase price once we have received and inspected the returned rug/s - you pay only for return shipping. Please hold onto your order packaging in case you need to make a return. 

Contact us for return instructions on how to best wrap & package the rug and have the rug/s shipped back. We will assist you with your return if needed. Simply put, we'd like your shopping experience to be completely hassle free.
